THE HISTORY OF NAPA

NAPA forms an integral part of Motus Aftermarket Parts’ distinctive distribution strategy, combining the entrepreneurial strength and market agility ofleading independent traders with the scale, resources, and infrastructure of the Motus Group.

Established in 1973 as a co-operative buying and marketing organisation for independent automotive parts and accessory outlets, the National Automobile Parts Association (NAPA) currently services and engages with 72 members across South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, and through an affiliated presence in Mozambique.

NAPA and its network of independent traders are strategically positioned within their respective markets. As a result, 35 leading South African brand manufacturers and OE suppliers leverage the NAPA platform for the distribution and marketing of their products. Through this partnership, NAPA members benefit from enhanced commercial deals, targeted support, and reward programmes.

The strategic direction and governance of NAPA are overseen by the NAPA Board of Directors, comprising representation from both Motus Aftermarket Parts and its independent member base.

THE EVOLUTION OF AN ICONIC BRAND

NAPA’s original logo was inspired by the German flag, reflecting the engineering excellence, quality, and pedigree long associated with German automotive products. It served as a strong symbol of trust and technical credibility within the industry.

As NAPA has evolved, so has its identity. The refreshed logo retains the iconic oval shape our members recognise, while introducing a modern, forward-looking design that incorporates a road motif at its core. This road symbolises progress and the shared journey between NAPA and its members, honouring the road we have travelled together and the one we will continue to conquer ahead

From 19–24 November, 20 of our top-performing customers were whisked away on an all-expenses-paid trip to Ireland to watch the Springboks take on Ireland on the rugby pitch.

The tour was packed with unforgettable experiences – from exploring the Guinness Storehouse, to enjoying dinners at Ireland’s finest traditional restaurants, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

The Young Guns Tour brought together Midas’s next generation of franchise leaders, each arriving with anticipation and purpose. What started with uncertainty soon gave way to camaraderie through interactive team challenges, allowing participants to connect quickly and forge relationships that would support future collaboration. Experiential activities throughout the tour encouraged trust and strengthened teamwork, while a behind-the-scenes factory tour offered valuable insight into the operational core of the business and a deeper appreciation for the processes that drive Midas’s success. Adventure experiences along the Garden Route tested skills and reinforced cooperation, and shared achievements on these challenges created memorable bonds among the group. By the tour’s end, participants left inspired, united, and ready to lead with confidence.
